Get the lockdown recipe right

I think we can all agree that it has been an extremely challenging time recently due to the Covid -19 virus. Here are a couple of tricks to help keep us motivated whilst in lockdown mode.
It is essential to have a goal within a specific timeline, whether it be weight loss, muscle tone, general fitness. The UK lockdown will ease in the coming months and eventually we will be free to go about our business.
Boredom is a beast that makes us gravitate towards the fridge and stare into the abyss for no aparent reason. Emotional eating can become a big problem whilst in lockdown, people are understandably stressed and eating can become a form of escapism.
Emotional eating is eating when you are bored, depressed or just out of habit. In order to eat quality meals, you will need to plan ahead, get excited about your new regime, visualise the ‘new you’ and get inventive with your food choices. Nutrition is really simple when you cut away all the media myths, simply rely on good wholesome food from mother earth. Try hard to stay away from simple carbohydrates and alcohol which contains empty calories and excess sugars. You will see a big difference in just three weeks if you cut out alcohol, sugar, white bread, pasta, rice etc. Instead, go for lean meats, salad and complex carbohydrates that give you a bang for your buck, broccoli is a winner!
Fruits are an ideal simple sugar that can help raise insulin levels to help “push” all the nutrients and supplements that you are taking into your cells which is a very important concept for your post workout meal.
I also think that you need to be able to listen to your body. If you feel that you don’t have the energy you need or are not able to think because of carb depletion you need to modify your diet accordingly. Add some fruit or nuts to help you keep your energy level up.
Exercise is vital, ensure you get out each day for your exercise which is recommended by the government, it really does help lift one’s mood and elevates fitness levels.
